$150,000 for Trumbull Center Revitalization Through STEAP Program

Governor M. Jodi Rell said today that Trumbull received $150,000 in funding to help pay for work relating to Trumbull Center revitalization efforts at today’s meeting of the State Bond Commission.

Work will include the installation of new sidewalks, light posts, iron fences and benches. The funds are being made available through the Connecticut Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP). STEAP provides financial assistance for projects that encourage economic development and preserve the character of the state’s less populated towns.

“I’m pleased that Trumbull will benefit from this program.  STEAP gives Connecticut’s smaller towns an opportunity to get assistance from the state with needed local improvements,” Governor Rell said. “The state has a responsibility to fund projects in communities of all sizes to create jobs and to keep our towns healthy and attractive.”

The Governor thanked State Senator Robert D. Russo and Rep. T. R. Rowe for their support of the project.

“This STEAP grant will allow Trumbull to realize great progress in our efforts to revitalize Trumbull Center,” Senator Russo said. “By working in partnership, we will improve the overall quality of life for Trumbull residents by attracting and retaining businesses in the Trumbull Center area.”

“These funds will help us make Trumbull Center shine,” Rep. T.R. Rowe said. “Making the Center a vibrant place for business and residents is an important part of ensuring its long-term viability.  The STEAP funds really allow us to invest in Trumbull’s future.”

More than $19.7 million in STEAP funds for 72 towns were approved by the Bond Commission today. The funds will enable 83 projects across the state to move forward.
