Senator-elect Rob Russo will be sworn in Friday by Governor M. Jodi Rell as the new State Senator from the 22nd District.  The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 3pm, Friday, March 14th in the State Senate Chamber located on the 3rd Floor of the State Capitol in Hartford.

The ceremony follows Russo’s landslide victory Tuesday in a special election to fill the 22nd Senatorial District seat vacated by Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch.  The 22nd District includes part of Bridgeport, part of Monroe and all of Trumbull.

Senator-elect Russo previously served as the Director of Governor M. Jodi Rell’s Fairfield County office and as Deputy Chief of Staff to United States Congressman Christopher Shays in his Washington, D.C. office.  Congressman Shays will be among those in attendance at Friday’s swearing-in ceremony. 

Senator-elect Russo serves on the boards of the Red Cross of Mid-Fairfield County and Beardsley Zoo and as a volunteer for the Bridgeport School Volunteer Association.  He graduated in 1997 from Georgetown University with a major in American Government and earned his law degree from Fordham Law School in 2004.  Senator-elect Russo lives in Bridgeport and is an attorney in private practice.
