Senator William H. Nickerson
(R- Greenwich) announced that the Bond Commission agenda
for the special
Bond Commission meeting called for Friday November 9 has
three bond allocation items within his senate district.
The Bond Commission has not met for four months and this
special meeting is a follow up to the
General Assembly’s belated adoption of a bond package
bill earlier this week. The items are:
GREENWICH
• $310,000 of state funding, plus $2,790,000 of
federal funding, for resurfacing and drainage
improvements for the portion of I-684 which traverses
the Northwest corner of Greenwich. This much needed improvement
responds to constituent complaints that the Connecticut
portion of I-684 has been allowed to deteriorate while
New York has improved the portion in that state.
• $568,500 of state funding, plus $5,116,500 of
federal funding, for rebuilding the deck of the
Indian Field Road bridge crossing over I-95. This project,
announced over a year ago, does not involve widening the
road bed but does involve replacing a deck of obsolete
design which has deteriorated over time.
NEW CANAAN
$3,500,000 of state funding to remediate the waste issue
which exists at the Department of Transportation salt
storage shed and highway service station facilities which
are located on the Merritt Parkway adjacent to South Avenue
and Gerdes Road.
Nickerson said “I
am delighted to support these much needed and overdue transportation
and environmental projects which will address problems of
longstanding in Greenwich and New Canaan. I am particularly
pleased that the bond package bill adopted earlier this
week with my support made possible funding these projects.”
