| Hartford, CT – Senate Minority
Leader Pro Tempore John McKinney (R-Fairfield) today commended
Governor Rell for nominating Appellate Court Judge Chase T.
Rogers of New Canaan to be the next Chief Justice of the Connecticut
Supreme Court. Senator McKinney called on his legislative
colleagues to confirm the nominee. “Judge
Rogers has earned a reputation as a hard working, thoughtful
jurist with exceptional leadership qualities,” said
Senator McKinney. Those attributes, together with her experience,
make Judge Rogers an excellent choice to lead Connecticut’s
highest court.
Senator McKinney has first hand experience
working with Judge Rogers, having apprenticed under her
as a young attorney with the Stamford law firm, Cummings
& Lockwood. Judge Rogers practiced commercial and employment
law at Cummings & Lockwood for more than 14 years before
becoming a Superior Court judge in 1998. She has served
on the appeals court since February 2006.
“I know Judge Rogers both personally
and professionally and have tremendous respect for her,”
said Senator McKinney. “I applaud Governor Rell for
her nomination and urge my colleagues in the General Assembly
to act promptly on this important confirmation.” |
