Hartford, CT – Senate Minority Leader John McKinney (R-28), Senate Minority Leader Pro-Tempore Len Fasano (R-34) and Deputy House Minority Leader Bill Hamzy (R-78), will host an open forum today for Connecticut-based businesses to discuss legislation affecting small businesses and solutions for protecting jobs in a down economy. Owners and executives from 45 small and medium-sized businesses have registered for the forum. Topics of discussion will include tax policy, health care reform, tort reform, regulatory reform, streamlining state government, and state mandates.
“Small businesses are the economic engine of our state. We need to work with them to find solutions to encourage entrepreneurship, grow our economy and protect Connecticut jobs, especially in the midst of the current financial crisis,” said Senator McKinney.
“House and Senate Republicans are taking a proactive approach to engage the small business community in a broader discussion about the state budget crisis and economic recession by holding forums like this in Hartford and back home in our respective districts,” said Senator Fasano. “Together, we hope to create a more business-friendly environment in Connecticut.”
“Small businesses account for the vast majority of new jobs created in our state. We need to hear first-hand from people on the ground about the challenges they’re facing and how the policies we make here in Hartford affect businesses across our state,” said Representative Hamzy.
