Says selection
of Enfield mayor “perfect fit” for vacant
position
State Sen. John A. Kissel, R-Enfield,
today praised the selection of Enfield Mayor
Scott R. Kaupin to the Bradley (Airport) Board
of Directors. Kaupin was recently selected to fill the
vacant position by Senate Minority Leader John
McKinney, R-Fairfield, who called Kaupin a
“regional expert,” who would bring together
the interests of many of the communities that surround
Bradley International Airport.
“I am thrilled with this selection because it
is so important that north central Connecticut has a
strong voice on this very important commission,”
said Sen. Kissel. “I have known Scott for many
years and I could not think of a more perfect fit for
this position. Bradley Airport is not only the transportation
hub of our state but it is the largest economic generator
in north central Connecticut. To have someone with Scott’s
background and knowledge is a true asset for the airport
and for our region.”
A lifelong resident of Enfield, Kaupin is a graduate
of Enrico Fermi High School and currently serves as
the town’s mayor, a position he’s held since
2007. He received his undergraduate degree from the
University of New Hampshire and holds a Masters Degree
in International Relations from Syracuse University.
Kaupin is a Logistics Manager for Retail Brand Alliance,
Inc. of Enfield.
“I am very grateful to Sen. McKinney for appointing
me to the Bradley Board of Directors and to Sen. Kissel
for all of his support,” said Kaupin.
“We are all aware of the many economic challenges
that face our region. Bradley Airport is an important
tool in our state’s efforts to grow the economy.
I look forward to working with the other members of
the Board to ensure we are doing everything we can to
enhance Bradley Airport both nationally and internationally
in terms of travel and commerce.”
The Bradley Board of Directors was established to oversee
the operation and development of Bradley International
Airport. The seven member board works to ensure that
the needs and demands of the public and business communities
are considered in the daily operations at the Airport.
The Board of Directors also works with the airport’s
staff and administration to maximize opportunities at
the airport to contribute to the State’s economic
well being. The board meets monthly and its efforts
include the development of an annual report and strategic
plan. In addition, the board has established the airport’s
mission statement, which represents a central focus
for airport management and employees.
“Scott will bring a great deal of expertise
to the Bradley Board of Directors,” said
Sen. McKinney. “He understands the economic
challenges facing our municipalities and businesses.
He is a well respected community leader not only as
Mayor of Enfield but also with his involvement with
the Jaycees. He will be a tremendous asset to the board.”
Kaupin’s term on the Board is effective immediately.
