73 new probation
officers to be sworn in at tomorrow’s ceremony
in Cheshire
State Senator John A. Kissel, R-Enfield,
will be a speaker at the graduation ceremony of Adult
Probation Officer Graduation Class 10. The event is
scheduled for Friday (tomorrow), March 28th
at 2:00 p.m., at the Department of Correction, Francis
H. Maloney Center for Training and Staff Development,
245 Jarvis Street in Cheshire, Gymnasium Building #2.
The class of 73 probation officers is one of the largest
graduating classes on record and trainees have completed
over 250 hours of pre-service training at the state
Judicial Branch’s Court Support Services Division
(CSSD) Training Academy. The ceremony will include the
awarding of diplomas, followed by a swearing in and
receipt of badges. The trainees will then report to
their duty stations and be assigned to a field training
officer who will work with them through their six month
probationary period.
“I am honored to be invited to speak at the graduation
ceremony of our state’s newest adult probation
officers,” said Sen. Kissel,
who serves as ranking Senator of the legislature’s
Judiciary Committee. “These graduates deserve
so much credit for all the hard work and effort they
have put into their training to become probation officers.
I commend them and am very thankful for their valuable
service to the state.”
Sen. Kissel said that it important for graduates to
know that the state is a partner in the efforts to improve
criminal justice in Connecticut. Chief Court Administrator
Barbara M. Quinn will also be a speaker at the event.
