Senator Kissel Supports State Budget Plan
Bill Includes One-Time Revenue Sharing Grant of $459,281 for Town of Enfield

State Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) today voted in favor of legislation that makes adjustments to the 2006-07 biennium state budget.  State House bill 5845 was approved by the state Senate this afternoon by a vote of 35-1, after passing the state House of Representatives last night, 138-9.  Governor M. Jodi Rell has stated that she will sign the legislation.

“This budget included significant funding for the town of Enfield, which was one of the major reasons I supported the plan.  As part of a $33 million appropriation for property tax relief there is $459,281 specifically set aside for the town of Enfield,” said Senator Kissel.  “This is a one-time revenue sharing grant that will help pay for non-recurring local expenses.  This is a considerable amount of money that will help each and every local taxpayer in Enfield. ”

Senator Kissel is a Deputy Minority Leader and the Ranking Senator on the Judiciary Committee.  He represents the seventh district communities of East Granby, Enfield, Granby, Somers, Suffield, Windsor, and Windsor Locks.
