Senator Kane & Senator Debicella
To Host Next Energy Forum In Seymour On September
17th
Senator Rob Kane (R-32) described the free informational
energy forum he hosted at the Southbury Senior Center
on September 12th as “fantastic”.
“The approximately 35 people who attended learned
about the various energy assistance programs available
in this state, along with tips and information about
conserving energy and saving money on their home heating
costs. I would like to thank the Connecticut Light &
Power representatives for coming to the forum to provide
information and answer questions, the Southbury Senior
Center for hosting us, and First Selectman Mark Cooper
for joining us,” said Senator Kane.
Senator Kane said that he is hosting energy forums
to ensure that the people he represents know how to
find any help they might need to keep warm this winter.
“Connecticut is fortunate in that there is a
wide variety of energy assistance programs available,
including fuel banks operated by some municipalities,
programs offered by the utility companies, the Connecticut
Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) administered by the
state and coordinated by community action agencies,
the Contingency Heating Assistance Program (CHAP), and
the non-profit Operation Fuel. It is important, especially
this year, that people know about these programs, know
their eligibility status for help from any of these
programs, and know how to apply. I want to make sure
that my constituents have the information they need,”
said Senator Kane.
Senator Kane noted that the Senate Republican Caucus
recently announced the details of a new public awareness
campaign, including a new easy-to-use website that provides
“one-stop shopping” for information and
application materials for various state and federal
energy assistance programs and tax incentives available
to Connecticut residents and businesses. The website
address is:
www.senaterepublicans.ct.gov/energy.
Senator Kane urged anyone who was not able to attend
the forum – along with those who do not have internet
access or have questions about the Senate Republican
Caucus energy information website – to contact
his legislative office at 1-800-842-1421, or e-mail
him at Rob.Kane@cga.ct.gov.
Senator Kane and Senator Dan Debicella (R-21) will
co-host a free informational energy forum in Seymour
on Wednesday, September 17th. This event will be held
from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Seymour Senior Center
located at 20 Pine Street. Representatives of Connecticut
Light & Power will attend the forum and be available
to answer questions.
