Energy Forum
to Be Held September 17th At Seymour Senior Center
Senator Rob Kane (R-32) and Senator Dan Debicella
(R-21) will co-host a free informational energy forum
in Seymour on Wednesday, September 17th.
The informational energy forum will be held from 10
a.m. to 12 noon on September 17th at the Seymour Senior
Center located at 20 Pine Street. Representatives of
Connecticut Light & Power will attend the forum
and be available to answer questions.
“It is important that Connecticut residents know
about the many statewide fuel assistance and conservation
programs that are available to help them stay warm this
winter. I urge everyone who is able to attend the forum
to join us and take advantage of the helpful information
that we will make available,” said Senator Kane.
“Of course, we understand that not everyone who
is interested will be able to attend. In that case,
our constituents should contact either of us at our
legislative offices and we will be happy to answer questions
and provide information,” said Senator Debicella
Energy assistance available to eligible Connecticut
residents include fuel banks operated by some municipalities,
programs offered by the utility companies, the Connecticut
Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) administered by the
state and coordinated by community action agencies,
the Contingency Heating Assistance Program (CHAP), and
the non-profit Operation Fuel. Both legislators said
they want to make sure that their constituents are aware
of these programs, know their eligibility status for
help from any of these programs, and know how to apply.
Senator Kane and Senator Debicella noted that the Senate
Republican Caucus recently announced the details of
a new public awareness campaign, including a new easy-to-use
website that provides “one-stop shopping”
for information and application materials for various
state and federal energy assistance programs and tax
incentives available to Connecticut residents and businesses.
The website address is: www.senaterepublicans.ct.gov/energy.
The two legislators urge constituents who are not able
to attend the forum – along with those who do
not have internet access or have questions about the
Senate Republican Caucus energy information website
– to contact them. Both legislators can be reached
by at the legislative offices by calling 1-800-832-1421.
E-mails may be sent to Senator Kane at Rob.Kane@cga.ct.gov,
and to Senator Debicella at Dan.Debicella@cga.ct.gov.
