Energy Forum
Will Be Held September 12th at Southbury Senior Center
Senator Rob Kane (R-32) will host a free informational
energy forum at the Southbury Senior Center on Friday,
September 12th.
The informational energy forum is scheduled from 10
a.m. to 12 noon at the Southbury Senior Center, which
is located at 501 Main Street. Representatives from
Connecticut Light & Power will attend the forum
and be available to answer questions.
“It is important that Connecticut residents
know about the many statewide fuel assistance and conservation
programs that are available to help them stay warm this
winter. I urge everyone who is able to attend the forum
to join us and take advantage of the helpful information
that we will make available,” said Senator Kane.
Senator Kane noted that the Senate Republican Caucus
recently announced the details of a new public awareness
campaign, including a new easy-to-use website that provides
“one-stop shopping” for information and
application materials for various state and federal
energy assistance programs and tax incentives available
to Connecticut residents and businesses. The website
address is:
www.senaterepublicans.ct.gov/energy.
“Connecticut is fortunate in that there is a
wide variety of energy assistance programs available,
including fuel banks operated by some municipalities,
programs offered by the utility companies, the Connecticut
Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) administered by the
state and coordinated by community action agencies,
the Contingency Heating Assistance Program (CHAP), and
the non-profit Operation Fuel. It is important, especially
this year, that people know about these programs, know
their eligibility status for help from any of these
programs, and know how to apply. I want to make sure
that my constituents have the information they need,”
said Senator Kane.
Senator Kane urged anyone who is not able to attend
the forum – along with those who do not have internet
access or have questions about the Senate Republican
Caucus energy information website – to contact
his legislative office at 1-800-842-1421, or e-mail
him at Rob.Kane@cga.ct.gov.
