Will continue
to serve as Ranking Member of Public Safety and Labor
Committees
State Senator Tony Guglielmo, R-Stafford has been re-appointed
to serve as Ranking Member of the legislature’s
Public Safety Committee and Labor Committee by Sen.
Minority Leader John McKinney, R-Fairfield. He has also
been chosen to continue to serve as a member of the
Finance Revenue and Bonding Committee, the legislature’s
tax writing committee. In addition, Sen. Guglielmo will
serve on the legislature’s Program Review and
Investigations Committee (PRI).
“It is a great honor to be able to continue to
serve on these committees,” said Sen.
Guglielmo. “Ensuring the public’s
safety is the most important responsibility of state
government and I look forward to working with my colleagues
on the Public Safety Committee to make sure we are doing
everything possible to keep the residents of Connecticut
safe.”
“I am very pleased to reappoint Tony Guglielmo
to these important committees,” said Sen.
John McKinney. “When it comes to issues
of Public Safety and Labor, Tony is an expert and I
am very fortunate to have him in our caucus. What’s
more, he knows that we can not tax our way out of this
recession and he will be a voice of reason on the Finance
Committee.”
As a member of the Program Review and Investigations
Committee, Sen. Guglielmo will examine state government
programs and their administration to ascertain whether
such programs are effective and continue to serve their
intended purposes, or require modification or elimination.
In addition to his committee assignments, Sen. Guglielmo
has also been named Chief Deputy Minority Leader. He
is currently the longest serving member of the Senate
Republican caucus. “We face a lot of challenges
as we head into the new-year but I am eager to get started.”
said Sen. Guglielmo.
The 2009 session of the Connecticut General Assembly
will begin on January 7th.
