Sen. Freedman Urges Constituents To Attend DOT “Listening Session”
Open Meeting Regarding State’s Long-Range Transportation Plan To Be Held December 4th In Norwalk

Senator Judith G. Freedman (R-26) is urging constituents to take advantage of an opportunity to express their concerns and share their ideas regarding the state’s Long-Range Transportation Plan by attending an upcoming regional “listening session.”

“No one better understands how transportation issues affect our everyday lives than Fairfield County residents. The state Department of Transportation is seeking our thoughts regarding its transportation policy for the next 20 years. Attending this open meeting is an opportunity for us to make our views known,” said Senator Freedman. 

The state Department of Transportation (DOT) will hold its “listening session” for the Bridgeport/Stamford area from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 4th in the community room at Norwalk City Hall at 125 East Avenue. On-site parking is available. A brief presentation will be made at the beginning of the listening session, followed by a period for public comment.

Senator Freedman noted that the state updates its long-tern transportation plan every three to five years. Once completed, the updated plan will cover the period from 2008 through 2035. it is expected that a draft long-range plan will be made available for public review in the spring of 2008, and that a final plan will be published by early summer of 2008.

Comments received before December 31, 2007 will be reviewed as part of the process for preparing the draft long-range transportation plan.
