| Senator Judith G. Freedman (R-26)
and Representative Joseph Mioli (D-136) applauded final passage
of legislation designating a bridge that crosses the Saugatuck
River in Westport as the “William F. Cribari Memorial
Bridge.” “Westport
residents will always remember Bill Cribari as the special
police officer who kept us safe directing traffic in town.
This is a fitting tribute to a wonderful man who is much
missed,” said Senator Freedman.
"The best thing that I can say about
Mr. Cribari is that he will always be in our hearts and
minds not just as a World War II hero and for all his accomplishments
in life, but for being 'Uncle Bill' to all our kids walking
his beat down main street on Saturdays, said Representative
Mioli.
Mr. Cribari, who passed away earlier
this year, was a life member of the Saugatuck Volunteer
Fire Department and a special police officer for Westport
for more than 30 years.
The bridge to be renamed in honor of William F. Cribari
is presently designated as Bridge 03149 on Route 136.
