| Senator Judith G. Freedman (R-26)
has been named a Chief Deputy Republican Leader of the Senate
Republican Caucus for the 2007-2008 legislative sessions by
Senate Republican Leader Louis C. DeLuca, R-Woodbury.
“I am grateful for, and
honored to be given, this opportunity to play a bigger role
in promoting the Senate Republicans’ legislative agenda,
and to communicate our ideas and proposals for improving
the quality of life for all Connecticut residents. I want
to thank Senator DeLuca, and our entire caucus, for this
opportunity,” said Senator Freedman, who had been
serving as a Deputy Republican Leader of the Senate Republican
Caucus.
In addition to serving as a Chief
Deputy Republican Leader, Senator Freedman will continue
to serve as the leading, or ranking, Republican Senator
on the Government Administration & Elections Committee,
which among other things, oversees matters regarding elections
and government ethics laws. Senator Freedman will take on
a new leadership position by serving as the Senate Ranking
Member of the Select Committee on Children, which has cognizance
over all legislation regarding children. Senator Freedman
will continue to use her budget expertise as a member of
the Appropriations Committee. She also will continue to
serve on the Legislative Management Committee which oversees
the workings of the legislature and the legislative facilities.
