Sen. Freedman Honored For Legislative Work On Behalf Of Connecticut Citizens with Autism
Presented With “You Make The Difference” Award By Connecticut Autism Spectrum Resource Center, Inc.

Senator Judith G. Freedman (R-26) is one of three state legislators recently honored by the Connecticut Autism Spectrum Resource Center, Inc. for her efforts to pass Connecticut’s new state law creating a pilot program to provide services to persons with autism spectrum disorders.

“I am honored to be given this award. Establishing this important pilot program was a bi-partisan effort. It was a pleasure to work with the Speaker and the advocates on this critical issue. As you heard Speaker of the House Jim Amann say, legislators from both political parties working together and with the advocates were able to create this pilot program. This is just the first step, as there is much more that needs to be done to address this very important issue,” said Senator Freedman.

Senator Freedman, along with two other legislators, including Speaker Amann, was honored at a reception sponsored by the Connecticut Autism Spectrum Resource Center, Inc., at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

Senator Freedman was a key supporter of legislation passed earlier this year creating a two-year pilot program to provide coordinated support and services, including case management, to up to 50 people with autism spectrum disorders who do not also have mental retardation.
