Senator Freedman Receives Award From Office Of State Child Advocate

Senator Judi FreedmanSenator Judith G. Freedman (R-26) this week was honored with an award from the state Office of the Child Advocate in recognition of her work on behalf of children with disabilities.

“As the mother of an adult daughter with disabilities, I know firsthand the joys and heartbreak of raising and loving a special child. I am deeply honored to receive this award. Thank you,” said Senator Freedman.

Senator Freedman is one of four state legislators honored today with certificates of appreciation from the state Office of the Child Advocate in recognition of her “efforts in championing change for Connecticut children with disabilities and complex medical conditions.”

“I would like to commend the senator for her untiring efforts on behalf of Connecticut’s most vulnerable children,” said Jeanne Milstein, Connecticut State Child Advocate.

Senator Freedman, a long time advocate for persons with disabilities, this year worked with other legislators to create a new pilot program to provide state services to adults with autism who are not otherwise eligible for services from the state Department of Mental Retardation.
