Senator Judith G. Freedman (R-26) said she has been informed that the State Board of Education has postponed its discussion of the Education Reference Group (ERG) system from this month's meeting to January.
"As the use of this designation significantly affects school districts and towns, I am happy that the State Board of Education is doing more research and having more conversations before holding its discussion. The one thing I would say at this point is that I feel we should consider making some changes to how these designations are made and used, and I will continue to make my views known to State Education Commissioner Betty Sternberg, along with other state and local education officials, area legislators and constituents," said Senator Freedman. |
