The Task Force formed to address issues related to Broadwater Energy's Proposed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) storage facility in Long Island Sound unveiled its new website this week located at www.ctlng.state.ct.us . The Chairman of the Task Force, State Senator Len Fasano (R-North Haven), responsible for the contents on the site, emphasized the need for Connecticut citizens to be able to stay updated with the Task Force's progress. Governor
M. Jodi Rell formed the Task Force through Executive Order #9 over the summer and later appointed Senator Fasano as chairman.
"The health of Long Island Sound is critical to all Connecticut residents so we wanted the site to be a way for citizens to keep track of the issues we are discussing and exactly how the task force is progressing," explained Senator Fasano. "This is the first Task Force with its own website, which underscores how important issues related to the LNG facility are for the future of our state."
"The website also has extensive overview on LNG as well as a PowerPoint presentation given by Broadwater in front of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Our goal is to ensure that citizens have access to everything they may need to know about this proposed project. Citizens' input is vital to our progress and this gives them an easy way to contact all members of the Task Force their ideas and suggestions."
The Task Force's meeting agendas and minutes will be posted on the site along with times, dates, and locations of future meetings and public hearing. A brief summary of the Broadwater Project, as it has become known, can be found on the site in addition to all Task Force members and their respective contact information.
Senator Fasano is serving his second term representing the communities of East Haven, North Haven, and Wallingford. He is a Minority Leader and the Ranking Member on the Planning and Development Committee and the Select Committee on Veterans' Affairs. |
