Rep. Williams and Sen. DeLuca Announce Open Space Grant for Watertown

WATERTOWN- State Representative Sean Williams (R-68) and State Senator Louis C. DeLuca (R-32) today announced that the Watertown Land Trust would receive a $258,750 open space grant award for the Osuch Project.  The grant would go toward preserving 42.16 acres.

Osuch is an active farm that straddles the towns of Watertown and Bethlehem, with frontage on Hickory Lane and Skilton Road.  It has a 2,400 foot boundary along the heavily-wooded forest land along the Nonnewaug River.  Currently, hay and corn silage are produced there.

“The preservation of Connecticut’s open space and farmland remains a high priority for me,” said Representative Williams.  “As the State’s open space dwindles, our commitment to preserving what we have must deepen.  I am proud to join with Governor Rell and Senator DeLuca in working to see that our communities retain the character and heritage that makes them what they are.”

"Preserving Connecticut's open space and farmland is extremely important, and I am very happy to see this state grant awarded to the Watertown Land Trust, Inc. for the Osuch project. This is just one more example of Governor Rell's, and the state's, ongoing commitment to protecting and preserving our open space and farmland," said Senator DeLuca.

The grant will join with funds from the Watertown Land Trust to achieve the $575,000 cost of the property.
