State Senate Republican Leader Louis C. DeLuca (R-Woodbury) announced today that the Seven Angels Theater in Waterbury has been awarded a state grant in the amount of $197,000. The Seven Angels Theater is the only professional, Equity theatre in the Greater Waterbury region. A grass-roots arts organization founded in 1990, it is one of the youngest arts organizations in Waterbury. It has grown to become a genuine asset to Greater Waterbury, and is one of the three largest arts organizations in Waterbury, as well as the Greater Waterbury region.
"The Seven Angels Theater is a true cultural cornerstone in the Greater Waterbury area, and I am pleased that the state is stepping in to recognize and support this highly respected arts institution," said Senator DeLuca. "Semina DeLaurentis and the Seven Angels Theater have brought professional, Broadway caliber performances to Waterbury for the past 15 years, and have remained committed to providing our region not only with well known musicals and plays, but also with first-time original productions by Connecticut playwrights. I am proud of this distinguished theater's accomplishments, and I am confident this grant will provide them with the funding needed to continue making their artistic vision a reality."
"Senator DeLuca and his family have been supporters of Seven Angels for many years," said Seven Angels Theatre Artistic and Managing Director Semina De Laurentis. "We are so thankful that he has recognized our committment and dedication, and it is incredibly gratifying to know that he appreciates our commitment to the arts. We thank him for his hard work on our behalf in Hartford; we are blessed to have his assistance." |
