SENATOR DELUCA HONORED BY CONNECTICUT SPORTSMEN
State Senate Republican Leader Louis C. DeLuca (R-Woodbury) was presented with the 2003 Patriot Award by the Coalition of Connecticut Sportsmen (CCS) for his “unwavering support in protecting and promoting sportsmen’s issues.” The CCS is a statewide organization of hunters, trappers, boaters and land use activists who advocate on behalf of wildlife conservation and 2nd amendment issues.

“I am honored that the CCS chose to recognize me this year with the Patriot’s Award, and I appreciate their years of dedicated advocacy on behalf of Connecticut sportsmen,” said Senator DeLuca. “The CCS have always done a good job of taking emotionally charged issues and boiling them down to the basic facts. The sportsmen of Connecticut are lucky to have such an effective and knowledgeable organization representing their interests at the state capitol.”

The CCS were founded in 1991, and serve as the only sportsmen organization in the state singularly dedicated to the protection, promotion and preservation of hunting, fishing, trapping and the scientific wildlife management programs which support them. The organization publishes a well-known monthly update entitled “Hook and Bullet.”

“Senator DeLuca is the kind of legislator we enjoy dealing with at the state capitol. He has a common sense approach to governing that values the facts over emotion when dealing with the issues. We were eager to honor him for his years of work on behalf of conservation efforts and defending the rights of sportsmen,” said Bob Crook, Executive Director of the CCS.
