Senate Republican Leader Louis C. DeLuca (R-Woodbury) was
honored at a ceremony today by the Connecticut Association
of Builders and Contractors (CT-ABC), as their “legislator
of the year” for 2002. Senator DeLuca was praised for
his willingness to work on issues affecting the construction
industry, and his ongoing efforts to promote free enterprise
in the state of Connecticut.
“I am honored
to receive this award from the CT-ABC, and I look forward
to working with state construction firms during the 2003
session to ensure that our building industry is properly
represented during these tough economic times,” said
Senator DeLuca. “I have always supported the philosophy
of free enterprise and market competition, and with the
state facing billion dollar budget shortfalls, it is all
the more important that we encourage these kinds of basic
business principles in the construction industry. I am optimistic
that with the help of such organizations as the CT-ABC,
that we will be able to work within the legislature to ensure
Connecticut residents are provided with the most affordable
and responsible construction possible for their tax dollar.”
The
CT-ABC is an organization of 220 construction firms throughout
Connecticut. According to the CT-ABC website, “Connecticut
Associated Builders and Contractors members believe that
all qualified, responsible contractors should be eligible
to bid and be awarded projects based on their ability to
perform. Connecticut Associated Builders and Contractors
members believe that contracts should be awarded to the
lowest, qualified, responsible bidder after a fair and open
bidding process.” |
