Oil Purification
Systems (OPS) To Receive Financial Assistance Through
Connecticut Clean Tech Fund
State Senator Dan Debicella (R-21) and State Representative
Jason Perillo (R-113) congratulated Oil Purification
Systems (OPS) of Shelton on being the first recipient
of an investment by the new Connecticut Clean Tech Fund.
Governor M. Jodi Rell announced that OPS will receive
up to $500,000 through the fund established last year
to assist companies that find innovative ways to conserve
energy and resources, protect the environment or eliminate
harmful waste.
“Congratulations to OPS, and also to Shelton
which continues to create a welcoming climate for business
even during this recession. Also, I want to thank Governor
Rell for her support. This investment in OPS is good
news for Shelton, and sends a positive message about
Connecticut’s commitment to encouraging the growth
of green technology industries in our state,”
said Senator Debicella.
“This is the kind of high-tech project that will
fuel our economy in the decades ahead. It’s good
for the environment, good for the economy, and will
create much needed jobs here in Southern Connecticut.
Governor Rell’s leadership in the area of green
technology is essential to growing our economy,”
said Representative Perillo.
According to Governor Rell’s announcement, the
fluid cleaning technology developed by OPS – including
the company’s OPS-1 onboard fluid cleaning system
– removes solid and liquid contaminants from engine
oil, virtually eliminating the need for routine oil
changes. The company has 11 employees in Connecticut,
17 in total, and is expected to create an additional
seven positions in the state over the next three years
as a result of the state’s investment.
The Clean Tech Fund is administered by Connecticut
Innovations, the state’s quasi-public authority
responsible for technology investing and innovation
development. The fund was formed through a partnership
between CI, the Department of Economic and Community
Development and the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund.
