Senator Rob Kane (R-32) and Senator
Dan Debicella (R-21) said they welcome the release of
state funds for emergency repairs at state-financed rental
housing developments, including the $581,815 expected
for mold remediation at the Norman L. Ray House in Seymour.
“This is good news for the people who
live in the Norman Ray House, and I want to thank Governor
Rell for her continued support for Seymour,” said
Senator Kane, noting recent Small Town Economic Assistance
grants for sidewalks and repairs to Sochrin’s Pond
Dam.
“We look forward to seeing this funding in place
and the completion of the mold remediation project.
We are proud to continue our work on behalf of Seymour
residents, and want to thank Governor Rell for her continued
advocacy on behalf of the people who live here,”
said Senator Debicella.
The Norman L. Ray House is a 40-unit elderly housing
development in Seymour.
Earlier this week, Governor M. Jodi Rell announced
the release of approximately $4 million from the new
State-Assisted Housing Sustainability Fund for emergency
repairs at state financed housing developments. The
fund, created last year to help preserve state-financed
rental housing for the benefit of low- and moderate-income
residents, is administered by the state Department of
Economic and Community Development (DECD) in consultation
with the State-Assisted Housing Sustainability Advisory
Committee.
The Norman L. Ray House mold remediation project is
included on a preliminary list of properties identified
by the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA)
as meeting the criteria for needing emergency repairs.
Projects included on the preliminary list are subject
to an application, review and approval process managed
by DECD and CHFA. The funding is in the form of deferred
loans.
