The State Senate
Clerk’s office has tabulated the results of Senate
votes during the 2007 regular and special legislative sessions
and confirmed that State Senator Dan Debicella (R-21) has
a perfect voting record for 2007.
“I am so honored to be serving
the people of Shelton, Stratford, Monroe, and Seymour.”
said Senator Debicella. “I owe nothing less than 100%
commitment to improving the quality of life, and will continue
to work for them both on and off the Senate floor.”
The State Senate took 627 votes this
year, with Senator Debicella actively participating in many
of the debates. He had one of his major bills—the
expansion of the Jobs Creation Tax Credit—passed unanimously,
an unusual accomplishment for a freshman legislator.
In his first year as State Senator, Senator
Debicella has achieved perfect attendance in the Senate
while balancing a job as Director of Strategy at Pepsi.
“When people talk about a balanced lifestyle, my life
is more of a work/work balance rather than a work/life balance,”
Senator Debicella quipped.
Senator Debicella explained that he twice
abstained from voting this year because the issues in question
directly affected Pepsi. “Ethics have to be of the
highest important in public life. If there is even the appearance
of a conflict of interest, I will abstain from a vote.”
said Senator Debicella.
Senator Debicella said he hoped
to continue his perfect voting record in the Senate in 2008.
“We have many major issues to tackle in 2008—reducing
taxes, strengthening penalties for violent criminals, and
reducing healthcare inflation,” Senator Debicella
said. “I will continue to work for all our families.”
