Senator Cathy Cook, R-Mystic, today announced that the State Bond Commission is expected to act on a proposed $50,000 grant-in-aid for various renovations to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center when it meets Friday, January 27th.
“The Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center is a local treasure, home to a food bank, senior citizen programs and a wealth of other wonderful programs. This organization has a dedicated staff and an abundance of volunteers who help to bring dignity and happiness to so many people. Like everyone in the community, I was delighted to see the neighborhood center recently celebrate its 20th anniversary of neighbors helping neighbors. On behalf of everyone who benefits from the center’s programs, and appreciates all it does for the communities of Stonington, North Stonington, Mystic, Old Mystic, Pawcatuck and Westerly, R.I., I want to thank Governor Rell for her willingness to include this grant for much needed renovations on the upcoming Bond Commission agenda,” said Senator Cook.
The State Bond Commission’s January 27th agenda includes a $50,000 grant-in-aid to the Town of Stonington for various renovations to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, such as modifications to doors, entrances and kitchens for ADA accessibility, electrical upgrades, installation of a commercial dishwasher, installation of a security system, window repairs, replacement of gutters, and drainage improvements. |
