State Sen. David J. Cappiello, R-Danbury, along with State Reps. Hank Bielawa, R-Redding, and Davis Scribner, R-Brookfield, are pleased to announce that under legislation that authorizes funding for school construction projects, the Town of Bethel will receive funding in the amount of $10.4 million for improvements to Bethel High School.
“We’ve been working on this throughout most of the legislative session,” said Sen. Cappiello. “I am very pleased that we were able to get this item into the school construction package. Through this commitment, the residents of Bethel will be relieved to a great extent from the costs associated with the school improvements. I am particularly pleased that we were able to focus on this during the Special Session; I think it gave us an opportunity to determine the importance of many projects, thus making sure this project was part of the legislation.
"This $10.4 million for Bethel High School is critical to restoring and improving the facilities there,” said Representative Scribner. "To be certain that these improvements continue to move forward it will be important for all concerned parties at the local and state levels to continue to work together in concert."
"The funds for the high school project, as promised, have been approved and will be available whenever the final plans have been submitted and approved by the state," said Rep. Hank Bielawa, R-2nd.
According to the legislators, the authorization is part of the school construction bill that was one of a series of bills that were passed on Tuesday in Special Session to complete this year’s budget process. |
