State Senator David Cappiello (R-Danbury) and Representative Mary Ann Carson (R-New Fairfield) today applauded the Office of Health Care Access's (OHCA) approval of a Certificate of Need (CON) application from Danbury Hospital. The approval establishes primary and elective angioplasty and open-heart surgery programs at Danbury hospital, which joins Waterbury/Saint Mary's Hospital in getting approval today.
"This is without a doubt one of my greatest accomplishments in the nearly ten years as a state legislator," said Senator Cappiello. "I have been pursuing this approval diligently for the past eighteen months on behalf of the people in the Danbury area. It is satisfying to know that we've substantially improved public health access in out area of the state. Individuals and families in Western Connecticut can now rest assured that the medical services which they are entitled to will be readily available at Danbury Hospital."
"This is one of the most significant improvements to health care access in Western Connecticut and is long overdue. Danbury Hospital has worked for more than a decade to bring full cardiac care services to our area residents. In addition to the Hospital staff, a team effort including legislators, EMS personnel, local elected officials, business leaders, patients, area residents and countless others contributed to this most exciting outcome! I am grateful to all of them and look forward to the expanded services and improved care that will be provided for those Danbury area residents in need." |
