Senator Cappiello Honored by Connecticut Community Providers Association

State Senator David Cappiello (R-Danbury) was honored by the Connecticut Community Providers Association (CCPA) at their annual meeting at the Omni Hotel in New Haven last Thursday. He was named a “Champion of Private Providers” by CCPA, which represents organizations that provide services and supports people with disabilities and special needs including children and adults with addictions, mental illness, developmental, and physical disabilities.

“It's a great honor to be recognized by such a wonderful organization. We cannot begin to measure the terrific contributions that CCPA makes to Connecticut citizens in need each and every year. I am proud to receive their ‘Champion' award and even more proud to continue to be a strong advocate for private provider services throughout Connecticut,” said Senator Cappiello.

Senator Cappiello has been a lead proponent for utilizing private providers for a variety of state services in order to keep our state spending more manageable, while not diminishing services.

“This plan is a win-win situation for everyone involved. Since there is not an endless stream of state funds available, we need to look for more creative ways to provide for these services in a more efficient and effective manner. Greater utilization of community providers would enable us to direct some much needed resources to our non-profit community and even expand state assistance to more citizens throughout Connecticut.”
