Today we remember the memories of those who lost their lives in the terrorists’ attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001.
On Wednesday, I had the privilege to attend an emotional remembrance service at Sherwood Island State Park. The tip of Sherwood State Park is a fitting site for this memorial, because on a clear day, the New York City skyline is visible. In a circle close to the ocean, the names of the Connecticut residents who perished on September 11th have been memorialized in etched granite plaques. In a very touching moment during the ceremony, family members donned each plaque with white flowers.
Sherwood Island State Park, Connecticut’s Living September 11th Memorial, is a place for family members, parents and the public to pay their respects and to meditate. This beautiful memorial ensures their perpetual memory.
Today, as you reflect and remember the anniversary of the attacks, I ask you to keep those who perished and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
